Gas transport in porous media

In this book, gas and vapor are distinguished by their available states at standard temperature and pressure (20◦C, 101 kPa). If the gas-phase constituent can also exist as a liquid phase at standard temperature and pressure (e.g., water, ethanol, toluene, trichlorothylene), it is considered a vapor. If the gas-phase constituent is non-condensable at standard temperature and pressure (e.g., oxygen, carbon dioxide, helium, hydrogen, propane), it is considered a gas. The distinction is important

because different processes affect the transport and behavior of gases and vapors in porous media. For example, mechanisms specific to vapors include vapor-pressure lowering and enhanced vapor diffusion, which are caused by the presence of a gasphase constituent interacting with its liquid phase in an unsaturated porous media. In addition, the “heat-pipe” exploits isothermal latent heat exchange during evaporation and condensation to effectively transfer heat in designed and natural systems.

Forsthoffer's Rotating Equipment Handbooks Vol 2 Pumps

This Series has evolved from my personal experience over the last 40 years with the design, selection, testing, start-up and condition monitoring of Rotating Equipment. Most of the concept figures were originally written on a blackboard or whiteboard during a training session and on a spare piece of paper or I beam during a start-up or a problem solving plant visit.

My entire career has been devoted to this interesting and important field. Then and now more than ever, the cost of rotating equipment downtime can severely limit revenue and profits. A large process unit today can produce daily revenues in excess of US$5 million. And yet, the Operators, Millwrights and Engineers responsible for the safety and reliability of this equipment have not been afforded the opportunity to learn the design basis for this equipment in practical terms. I have also observed in the last ten years or so, that the number of experienced personnel in this field is diminishing rapidly.

Gas Well Testing Handbook

The major purpose of writing this book is to provide a practical reference source for knowledge regarding state-of-the-art gas well testing technology. The book presents the use of gas well testing techniques and analysis methods for evaluation of well conditions and reservoir characteristics. All techniques and data described in this book are "field-tested" and are published here for the first time. For example, this book contains new tables and comparisons of the various methods of well test analysis. Most of these techniques and applications are clearly illustrated in worked examples of the actual field data. Several actual field example calculations and field case studies are included for illustration purposes.

Artificial Lift Manual Part 2A- Gas Lift Design Guide

Gas lifting can be used throughout the whole lifespan of an oil well: from the time it dies until its abandonment. The Gas Lift Manual is a thorough, handy reference that is essential to the practicing engineer needing to successfully perform this type of artificial lift project. In his manual, Takacs imparts more than 30 years experience and research in the artificial lift methods arena. He starts the manual with an introduction to gas lift, and then moves on to the various parts of the gas lift model, including analysis and troubleshooting, as well as, common gas lift malfunctions. This book will be particularly useful to those needing to research this technology, as the author has supplied extensive resource references to other literature sources.

Basics of oil and gas Log Analysis

In most runs of a resistivity tool, the major purpose is to obtain measurements of Rt, the true resistivity of the formation. However, there are a variety of complicating factors involved which may require corrections to be made to the recorded values in order to obtain good estimates of the true resistivities. All resistivity tools are to some extent “averaging” devices that record resistivities of zones rather than resistivities of discrete points. So, for example, the resistivity of a thin resistive horizon will generally be underestimated by most tools since its reading will be partly reduced by contributions of more conductive adjacent beds.

Basic Gas Chromatography. Techniques in Analytical Chemistry

Gas Chromatography (GC) is undoubtedly the most widely used technique for the separation and analysis of volatile compounds. Yet comprehensive guides to contemporary GC theory and practice are surprisingly hard to find.

Basic Gas Chromatography fills this significant void in the GC literature. Written by two well-known practitioners and educators in GC, it offers thorough coverage of the basic principles and techniques of modern gas chromatography.

Designed to serve as a primer/working reference for bench chemists and as a textbook for upper-level undergraduate and graduate students, it presents the fundamentals in a straightforward and logical fashion. Theoretical issues are explained without complicated equations and derivations and always in terms of how they relate to practical operating principles. Timely, comprehensive, and accessible, Basic Gas Chromatography:

  • Provides a balanced presentation of theory and practice
  • Includes both capillary column and packed column chromatography
  • Uses the new IUPAC terms throughout, cross-referenced to traditional terms and symbols
  • Offers a wealth of helpful hints, step-by-step guidelines, and trouble-shooting tips
  • Briefly covers GC-MS, headspace analysis, chiral analysis, solid phase microextraction, and other cutting-edge topics.

GPSA. Gas processing

The Gas Processors Suppliers Association is an organization of companies with specialized knowledge of the supply and service needs of the gas processing and related industries. A major service to them is embodied in the Engineering Data Book, which was first published in 1935. Over 150,000 copies of the Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh Editions of the book wer distributed for use throughout the world by engineers, operating personnel, and students. The Twelfth Edition of the Engineering Data Book, available in two versions — FPS and SI — is an attempt to assemble, in a single compilation, basic design information together with data and procedures that can be used by field and plant engineers to determine operating and design parameters. It is also intended as an aid to design engineers who, in spite of increasing availability of computer routines and other sophisticated design methods, require a general reference work asguide to accepted engineering practice for estimating, feasibility studies, preliminary design, and for making on-site operating decisions. The loose-leaf format of the Data Book permits periodic updating to meet the changing technology of the process industries.
